Want to Give a Relaxing Back Massage?

We all would like to get massages but many of us are scared to give them. We’re frightened of unintentionally causing hurt to the other person. We are scared that we might not help enough. We are scared that the person getting the massage will dislike what we’re doing. You will be happy to hear that anybody can learn how to give an amazing massage every time they want to do just that. Here’s information on how you too can give anybody an awesome back massage.

It is vitally important that the person be comfortable while he lies down. They have to be laying down on a surface that is both firm and soft. there’s no need for a table but see if you can have them lie down on the bed. If they are on your floor, place a mat or a couple of soft blankets or towels so that they will feel more relaxed. If the person chooses to remain clothed (and most will), be sure that the shirt they are wearing is made of soft material so there won’t be as much friction or chafing.

Begin with the simple rub. In a slow manner, and using the entire flat side of both of your hands, rub up from the lower back and toward the neck. Put some pressure into this rub but dont start with the full on massage yet. Start at the lower back and glide your hands in an upward motion, along either side of the backbone toward the neck then across the shoulders and back down the back. As you keep doing this, make your loops smaller and smaller so that you are certain to cover all areas of the back.

Using the heels of your hands gives you a great way to offer terrific and pointed pressure. Move the heels of your palms in tiny circles starting out in the middle of the base of the back and then working out toward the sides, upwards and then back toward the spinal column until you’ve done this to the entire back of the person.

Sit at the side of the individual who is receiving the massage. Then, set one hand on top of the other and drive into the back a little bit with just your fingers. Begin at the spine and dig in steadily as you move your hands away from the spine and across the back then lightly glide your hands back across the back toward the spinal column. Do this again as you move upward along the back and then repeat on the other side of the person’s back.

Knead the spine. Starting out with the base of the spine, work your way up each of the sausage like sinews on either side of the backbone by rubbing in little circles with a couple of fingers or your thumbs. Generate a little friction in each node by kneading each one at least five times. Work all the way up one side of the back and then rub the other side.

Something that you should keep in mind as you use each of these techniques is that it is good to re-relax the person between each part of the massage that you give. This means that after you have used the heels of your hands for specific applied pressure, you should go back to the rub you used at the beginning for several minutes.
