Society does not place much value on the caretaker home stays home and watches the kids, whether it be a nanny, mom, paid babysitter, the level of respect is the same- there is almost none.
It does not matter if the person is hired, or the person is watching their own children does more work than one would realize, from house cleaning, nursing a sick child, to laundry and trying to keep bills paid. Some women and men at home take on this responsibility all by themselves whereas some have a companion to share the load.
With all the caretaker does one would think that more attention to gratitude for all this person does will fall naturally in line, however it is quite the opposite, so how does the caretaker keep up a positive attitude and not burn out?
When fatigue and the joy of helping out those you love becomes burdensome then your body will start to show signs that one must slow down or find an outward avenue to relieve stress, anger and even frustration.
Enrolling in an exercise program will give the body a boost, the mind will be challenged, and if you attend a class regularly you can make me friends. Many exercise clubs have day care for a minimal fee, or you could trade off with another caretaker.
Stay at home moms don’t usually have an “out”, a place to go unwind, many times they don’t even have a social group to get out once in a while. It is important that mom share with someone- anyone, it lifts the burden to have to carry it alone, and in all reality will see more results or a plan of action to get out of the dumps when there is someone to confide in.
