An individual who has at least five hundred hours of training and experience, along with the knowledge of the specific areas required may be eligible to have their personal portfolio reviewed for examination. In order to obtain national certification, the student must pass the one hundred and sixty question exam that will cover all of the areas taught during the program. After becoming a certified therapist, a practitioner must be recertified every four years.
Because there are so many different kinds of massage, it is extremely important for the individual to know what they way to specialize in before they pick a school. Generally, their education will include training in the different areas of sports injuries, pregnancy, rehabilitation, and pain relief. All programs offer training in these general types.
It is also important to make sure that the school is accredited if the student will be applying for financial aid. Most programs typically cost between five thousand dollars up to ten thousand dollars. Graduation will not be the end of a person’s education.
