How to Cope With Loneliness

Loneliness can eat at your actual soul. Some of us are more at ease at being alone than other people. I use to be somebody who desired tons of folk and activity in my life. I was not use to being alone and did not like the very idea of going to a cabin in the woods with nobody around but me. I actually wasn’t afraid of the night or bears or bad folks. I simply did not like the concept of being alone.

Through life I was always surrounded by family, friends, dates and then marriage and youngsters. I was extremely concerned from a Christian perspective with adults and youth. My wife and I spent our 25th wedding anniversary with 100 and kids in a cinder block building and we loved it.

One or two years later God took my other half home and I was left behind. It felt like He had taken my world away from me. We had 2 daughters but they did not live at home, one married and one in the university. The house became awfully lonely and I’d sit on the porch until the wee hours of the morning. Over the next one or two years God started to change me and to show me the best way to live life with Him and for Him in a deeper way than I ever have.

I have been a Christian for a number of years, have taught, preached and have travelled to foreign countries to preach His word. Some of those places have been awfully perilous. He used the death of my other half and other losses in my life to show me His power and to allow me to come into a deeper relationship with Him.

I've learnt to surrender to Him, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. There's no loneliness in my life like it was after my spouse died. I can be fully by myself and still have a massive smile on my face and peace in my heart. When bad things come into my life or I am all alone I just praise Him for being my Heavenly Father.

I've had some serious injures in my life and some dissatisfactions but each time I thank Him and I give it to Him. Who is better to heal your loneliness, your hurts and disenchantments of life than God the Father. If your loneiness or the occurrences of life are also making you ask how to deal with stress.
