How Can Something The Shape And Size Of An Almond Be Responsible For Making You Freeze With Fear?”

The way we respond to fear is caused by our ‘reptilian brain’. What exactly is this reptilian brain? A few hundred millions years ago we evolved with nothing more than an emotional reaction to fear. All we had to get by on was our lower brain, the biological name for this is the ‘amygdala’, although evolutionists call it the ‘reptilian brain’. Even though we have since developed what is now known as the higher brain, we still use the amygdala when it comes to the basic emotions. Hence the ‘fight’ or ‘flight’ syndrome can kick in at the most awkward of times, all as a result of the amygdala using stored emotions.

When it comes to making snap judgments, which can cause fear to rear its ugly head, it is something which happens on a barely conscious level. This is the ‘lizard brain’ at work. To put it simply, the lizard brain is purely concerned with survival. This is why we can do irrational things when we are in a tight spot. Fear can be stored as emotional memories, and that is what can trigger certain physiological actions within you. In order to overcome and rationalise a particular fear emotion you need help in shifting those particular memories.

Brainy evolutionists tell us we have had this reptilian brain thing going on for millions of years. This is why we sometimes act irrationally when in a tight spot. When our reptilian brain kicks in we act automatically and without thinking about what we are doing, hence we can become injured while fleeing nothing more than a false reaction. This can be brought on by the most mundane of things.

The reptilian brain sees something and reacts, simple as that. If we are hungry and it sees food it wants it. If it sees a threat it makes you run from it. If it sees an attractive person then it wants a date. There’s nothing flash about it, this is why you react as you do in certain situations. These emotions from past events are stored in your emotional memory bank of the amygdala.

Stephen Richards, best selling author, trainer, and motivational speaker specialising in mind power, life resources, and relationships says, “When fear wraps its vice-like legs around you it is actually an evolutionary thing! A fear attack works on your central nervous system by gushing powerful neurochemicals into it. It wrenches your guts and destabilises you in many ways. Your senses are so heightened that the half inch moth or whatever it is you are feared of may as well be the size of a bull elephant. That is how fear increases your sensory perception of everything around you. Anything remotely reasonable doesn’t even enter your thoughts, all sense of reasoning is temporarily lost! All blocked out by your lizard brain. This is how fear works!”

These emotions of fear drawn from your memory bank actually feed the very fear you want to be rid of. It goes around in a vicious circle, a one that you just can’t seem to find an end to. Some therapists advise that you go into the fear and accept it for what it is! However, top self help author Stephen Richards says, “By embracing the very fear you want to rid yourself from you are reinforcing the emotional memory of that particular fear. Frankly you need to ground yourself and transmute this fear into something else. By maintaining your relationship with the fear emotion you are inviting it to remain within your life.”

What is fear? Fear has been described as a neural circuit that has been designed to keep the organism (you) alive in dangerous situations. The amygdala determines the significance of the stimulus and triggers emotional responses like freezing or fleeing. This is a process that would best be described as the ‘emotion of fear’. The amygdala is the storage area where the memory of fear is kept.

Top of the list when it comes to fear is speaking in public or at meetings. Second on the list is asking someone for something, perhaps asking someone out on a date that you have taking a liking to. The fear of looking a nerd and being told “no” is the stumbling block. This is fear of rejection. What makes you freeze when fear comes on? Easy! It is caused by the overreaction of your reptilian brain, the amygdala! This then stores the emotions of fear, but it can act in a way that causes you to act unreasonably … like running off, finding it difficult to breath or even fainting and so on! To correct this is quite easy; it just means resetting the memory of fear within you.

The defective signals sent out to your body by the reptilian brain can take you into a sensitive condition known as panic or anxiety. Then it nourishes itself by virtue of this continual loop and reacts in the exact same way when that set of circumstances comes on. This is how it goes on, but now there is a real opportunity to resolve that. Fear of spiders, flying, open spaces, enclosed spaces, heights and so on are things that can set off bodily changes. It is these physiological changes that bring on all those negative feelings within you like: dry mouth, dizziness, trembling, increased heart rate, pain in your chest, difficulty in swallowing, tightness in your chest, etc, etc. So why live like that? You can now change that for the better.

Turning off the emotion of fear is not that simple once the floodgates have been opened. The brain’s cortex cannot get a grip on it; it overrides anything logical that might have a remote chance of running through your head. However there is some good news … there is a way to fix this problem. These false alarms are what bring on the attack of fear. So if we can empty the stored information that is waiting to be triggered then we can totally eradicate that particular relationship between the amygdala and what sets the fear off. Then it will no longer recognise the situation as a life threatening nature. Many have tried immersion and cognitive therapy … all to no avail. Now there is a way to beat the fear without even having to come into contact with what sets it off.

Perhaps in an effort to overcome this irrational fear you’ve read all the self-help books and listened to all of the hypnosis or subliminal downloads you can handle, and all with little success in eradicating that irrational fear. So what now? One way to overcome your particular fear is to replace some of your negative thoughts (that creates negative feelings) with unmistakable positive thoughts.

A specially designed fix has been devised and tested, the result is something that is far more powerful than hypnotherapy or even subliminal messages. Now the barrier to overcoming irrational fear has been lifted. The most up to date technology has been used to create a solution to your problem. Top self help coach and best selling author Stephen Richards has created a simple method that beats just about anything you will lay your hands on at the present time of writing.

Technology since the days of hypnotherapy has moved on, now there is a far quicker way to channel new thought processes into the mind and to empty that emotion memory bank which is full to the brink with fear memories. This is where you can move things up a gear and integrate the fix into your busy lifestyle without hours and hours of costly therapy.

While many methods of helping you overcome fear claim success, they can involve a great deal of mental effort. Some retraining of the mind, such as hypnotherapy, requires frequent therapy sessions over several weeks. When testing how such an audio CD could do away with the traditional methods of therapy it was found that in less than 30 minutes the main track was able target the core of the problem.

This remarkable up to date method designed by Stephen Richards used in the “Releasing You From Fear CD” is unique because it targets the zone of the amygdala. It totally disarms the harboured memories of the specific fear emotion that is causing you distress. Methods previously used to target this area did not take into account the fear emotion and how your lizard brain reacted in certain trigger situations. Minor obstacles and irritations which were once magnified and a cause of the cycle of fear can now be fixed.

Recapture control over your life today when you can banish groundlessfears by listening to the therapeutic audio CD by self-help expert Stephen Richards. Find out more from his site.
