Cure Panic Attacks From Public Speaking

Most people would rather be dead in the casket than giving an eulogy at the funeral. Public speaking is already difficult but with if you suffer from anxiety attacks it can be a major source of worry weeks before you even are due to speak.

The public speaking events don’t have to be in front of a large crowd at the podium. They can be something as small as giving your opinion on a story you read in class or maybe your thoughts on a proposed project at work.

The fear centralizes itself around the speech and if a panic attack happens during the speech what will everyone think? Will I fall over and die? Where is my exit strategy?

The number one fear among people is the fear of public speaking, so you are not alone. In fact anxious thoughts can actually help your speech. What we need to do is build back your confidence and change your thought pattern about the fear and the anxious thoughts.

First you need to understand that anxious feelings before a speech is completely normal. You body is preparing it self and you are not going to fall over and die. You are completely safe. Understand that if you let them these feelings will pass.

The fear of having the next panic attack is the fuel to the fire. Knowing that you barely made it through the last one what is going to happen next time is what really scares you. I call it the death spiral but my doctor called it a positive feedback loop. Nothing positive about it if you ask me.

Anxiety and panic over time have caused your confidence to be shot. The lack of confidence has increased the chance of more frequent and intense panic attacks in the future.

Negative thoughts cause your anxious feelings that were once normal to turn into a panic attack. Thoughts like what if they think my speech is dumb or there is no way I can talk in front of this large of a group. The minute you doubt yourself is the same minute that you get the rush of adrenaline and the panic flows in like a wave to crush you.

Now with this new outlook on speaking in public you will find that it is completely normal to have anxious feelings before and during a speech. You will be able to allow those feelings to come and pass. Now that you have removed the negative thoughts you will notice that the anxious feelings have actually enhanced your speech making you feel more alive and energetic.

Lets change your thought process. Instead of thinking here comes another attack. Think, there you are I have been waiting for you. I am no longer scared of the feelings you bring because I know that I am secure.

Warning, don’t keep the fear inside you stomach. Notice the feelings of anxiety, respect the fear and slowly let the panic leave your body. Practice letting the anxiety flow out your body rather than holding it in your belly and you will soon be able to give the best speech of your life.
